Krishnamurti Australia Pittwater Gathering – Thursday 24th April  2008

Theme: Can we establish a relationship with each other in which an open dialogue takes place, a free, self aware, self-critical dialogue of questioning, doubting, inquiring?

Krishnamurti Australia will hold a Gathering in April 2008 to discuss Krishnamurti’s teachings. We have rented the whole of the Pittwater Youth Hostel for Thursday 24th April, Friday 25th,Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th April 2008. We have the hostel till mid-afternoon Sunday. It is also possible to extend the stay for the Wednesday and Sunday nights before and after the gathering. The youth hostel has an idyllic setting in Bushland at Pittwater in Northern Sydney. It provides comfortable accommodation without being luxurious. We will self cater. The youth hostel is reached by ferry/water taxi from Church Point to Hall’s Wharf. Where: Pittwater Youth Hostel overlooking morning Bay on Pittwater’s western shore. Arrive by Ferry/water taxi from Church Point to Hall’s Wharf. Last Ferry 6.15 pm after this a water taxi may be available.

How to get there:
Bus: DIRECT BUS SERVICE
E86 City to Church Point (Weekdays only) 156 Manly to Church Point.
L88/L90 City to Narrabeen/Mona Vale change to 156 to Church Point.

This weekend is an opportunity using Krishnamurti videos and dialogue with others to  look, listen, inquire, into the theme. For clarity and freedom in our daily lives Krishnamurti’s profound perceptions into the transformation of human consciousness may serve as a starting point.

The natural bushland of this Ku-ring-gai  National Park and on Pittwater Harbour is a wondrous location with magnificent walks and canoeing.

Activities: Activities will include a video session in the morning followed by large and small group discussions. Free time will be available for bushwalking or canoeing.

Food: We will expect people to bring their own food especially any special dietary requirements. We will supply the bulk items like rice, sugar, milk and expect people to bring the rest. We will take turns at cooking and meal preparation and suggest to people if they want to prepare one meal before hand and freeze it we can then reduce cooking times considerably. For example, I am thinking of preparing a dhal or lentil dish before hand. Full catering details will be forwarded on enrolment.

Cost: $150 for the Gathering. Payment by the middle of April if possible.
It is possible to come just for the day, cost is $33.00 per day.

Parents with Children. Two years ago we had some requests from families to bring their children. Because of the Dangers presented by the proximity to the sea and to bushland and because of the short notice we declined the requests. Last year we had no interest in a parents and children event.
This year after talking with the YHA and other we have decided to accept families with children. However there are important considerations. These are important because of the dangers of drowning and getting lost and because we would not wish the activities of the children to interrupt the main gathering. If there is more then one child then both parents need to be present. Parents will be expected in cooperation with the organized activities to supervise their children at all times and to encourage cooperative behaviour.

Activities for children. Geeta Waters who is Krishnamurti Australia’s  education officer will organize in conjunction with the parents activities for the children. Geeta has a long interest in the education of children and it should provide an interesting weekend for all. It would be expected that there be minimal inference with the main gathering from the parents and children’s gathering. However it would be expected that parents would cooperate with Geeta to make it a creative and interesting time
